Black ‘n’ Gold

I met a lady today who I knew was of a coloured persuasion from the sound of her voice on the phone when I spoke to her a few days before, I was going to help her with her C.V. and help her find a new job. We met this morning and she was waiting for me and from behind, I heard a voice saying, “Rob, are you, Rob?”

When I turned to see her complying that I was Rob, the first thing she said to me was, “I’m sorry I’m black.”

For a good few hours, I was shocked that she would say such a thing, and especially to me. But how would she know that I’m not a racist?

I questioned her later on today about it and asked why she had said that? And all she kept on saying was that she was sorry. I feel for people who have been abused by racism and today I met someone who has taken some of that abuse. If it wasn’t nice for me then how could it have been for her?

Honestly, I’ve never met anyone as nice as she and her partner were to me today.  I’m so pleased I met who I met today.

People are so nice. Not everyone, not everywhere, and certainly not all the time but genuine people are just, so nice.

Gold, in a Sea of Grey

Hi, I'm making this website as a hobby that I'm hoping will grow into something that I can leave behind that'll benefit family and friends and anyone else who it touches. I find it very therapeutic and relaxing, and I hope I can help someone along the way. Please feel free to contact me if you have any comments or suggestions.
